I'm very interested in the papillions. We rescued one thrown from a car on the highway when I was five years old and had her until I was 16 and she was our favorite family pet ever. I have a 10 year old male bichon frise who is a typical bichon. He loves other dogs and like to play with other dogs, but only if it's not rough play. He does like his naps, I must say. I've had him since he was 8 weeks old. I also have a 12 year old cat who is the epitome of lazy. Large, fenced back yard, free to play or nap inside and out, sit on my lap or beside me for plenty of affection and cuddling. I'm a retired woman in my early 60's.

I would love to be able to adopt one of these precious babies. I have been in search of a small dog for about 3 weeks now. If at all possible I would love to adopt one and take a couple of classes on how to care for a dog who has been in such a situation. Please email me asap. I am especially interested in the 6year old papillon in the previous comment. If anyone checks this please send me an email and any info on Bryan the papillion asap. Thanks alot.
I don't know for sure but I am guessing that if you are interested in these dogs you need to call or stop by. They are so busy at AH that they rarely check their email let alone website comments.

I am one of the foster mom's for a 6 year male papillon who was one of the rescued dogs. We have had him since April 10th and he will go back on Tuesday May 6th. He will be neutered and put up for adoption in the following days.

He still has many issues but has really come along. He needs a home with no small children. He likes to sleep all day :) I have fallen in love with him and wish we could keep him. His name is Bryan (name given to him by AH) but we have called him Stinky due to the stench from his rotten teeth.

Please stop by to see my darling Stinky. He weighs just 4.5 lbs and is very small. He needs a gentle owner who will continue to show him that he can trust humans and love them too.

I just wanted to say that Animal Haven is a wonderful shelter. I got a dog there 7 years ago that was not treated well at all before she ended up in this shelter. They had named her Tandy (now Geanie). She has been the greatest dog ever. She is 8 years old now and I hope will live 8 more. If it hadn't been for Animal Haven Staff, this sweet baby of mine may not be alive for me to love so much today. Thank you Animal Haven for being there. You have no idea how much you are appreciated by us, the animal lovers, and the animals, whom you have given a second chance for the TLC they desperately need.

I would very much appreciate getting one of these small dogs. We are retired and have the desire to care and love one.

Thank you so much for taking these dogs and making them available for adoption. I really think these type breeders should be made to live in a cage with little room or contact with a loving person for life.
My husband and I may be interested in adopting when they are available. We are an older couple with a fenced back yard and no kids. We might take two dogs if they would get along with each other.
Please let me know when the dogs are available to see if we can find one or two to love. I think we would love a Papillon or Maltese, as Yorkies may be too active for us.

Our last dog came from Animal Haven, and he was with us for 15 years. We still miss him.

I adopted a papillian from Wayside Waifs last August. Wayside was unsure if she was a run away or a breed dog. When my vet looked at her, he was pretty sure she was a breeder.
She had all the problems that some of these animals are having. Very scared of humans but loves to be around other dogs.
It took me along time to get her to trust me. I have worked with her and I can honestly says she is the a gift from God. She goes to work with me everyday. She has her own little "space". Without a doubt the best space is the one she filled in my heart.
Her name is "LOLA". And yes she does dance. HINT: Am a "Barry Manilow" fan. Her rest of her life will be filled with nothing but love.
Please go and adopted one of these poor dogs, you will never regret it.
Thank you to all the shelters for giving these animals a new and much deserving chance at a happy life.

Hello Animal Haven folks. I just read the article about the rescued babies from Highland, KS. I have two male yorkies, one with only one eye that was a rescue baby. They are both neutered and my yard is fenced. I am looking to add a female to our family and would love nothing more than to get another rescue dog. Please let me know when these babies can be viewed and I will come by on my way home. I live in Merriam, and your facility is on my way home. I use Welborn Animal hospital as my Vet and have for 10 years. It pains me to see animals treated this way. Kudos to Animal Haven for helping out.
